Tire and Rim CARE tips

You just shelled out hundreds, if not thousands, to pimp your ride, adding some bling. Now you want to keep them tires and rims looking like they did when you first got put on, right?

HERE'S SOME HELPFUL CLEANING TIPS THAT WILL KEEP YOUR NEW BLING SHINING AND CATCHING THAT REFLECTION OF THE HOT RUCA'S BACKSIDE STANDING A FEW FEET AWAY!!

When choosing your tire and rim cleaning solution, you will want to choose a brand that is the LEAST abrasive and LEAST acidic. Although a general rule of thumb is that the longer a solution's sitting time on your tire and rim is key to effective cleaning, keep in mind that even with a low acidic solution, sitting time may allow for the clearcoat to be "eaten" away. You will also need either a soft cloth or a brush, preferrably a soft natural bristle over a nylon bristle to prevent scratching. Clean one tire and rim at a time.

Contrary to some's belief that presoaking the tire and rim is the best method to begin this task, rim cleaning solutions are most effective when applied directly to a DRY tire and rim. Apply an even coating of the solution all over the rim and the tire wall, making sure no water (i.e. runoff from washing the vehicle) drips down and mixes with the cleaner, diluting it. Allow the cleaner to sit to give it time to work, as per the manufacturers directions.

Now with your soft cloth or natural bristle brush, rub or scrub away the excess dirt and grime, making certain to get inside the rim too.

Once the dirt and grime are loosened, it's time to begin rinsing the tire and rim with water. Water pressure and how long water is sprayed onto the tire and rim are important too! A quick splash with a garden hose will not do much good. The higher the water pressure and the longer spray time will result in more dirt being eliminated and help acheive a maximum clean and shine. Another good tip to keep in mind while spraying down your tires and rims: use a circular motion while spraying. Avoid spraying in a straight up-and-down or side-to-side motion. Spraying water in a circular motion helps to get the inside of your rims clean too.

To prolong your shine and to make this task easier the next time, you may consider applying a light coat of a polymer wax to the tire and rim.
